All PostsLearning the “Kaizen” : Kenya SRC’s Visit to Japan
From June 22nd, a delegation of 18 members from the Salaries and Remuneration Commission (SRC) of Kenya visited Japan in two separate groups. The program kicked off with intensive training at the TPS (Toyota Production System) Dojo, followed by visits to various factories dedicated to the principles of kaizen (continuous improvement). Each group participated in a five-day curriculum, resulting in a comprehensive 10-day program overall.

The training went beyond a mere introduction to technical tools and methodologies. It was designed to provide an immersive experience in the Japanese management philosophy—one that values the front lines (genba) and fosters a culture where every employee is encouraged to think independently and actively contribute to improvements.

Given their vital responsibility in determining the compensation for public servants in the Republic of Kenya, the delegates showed a keen interest in Japan’s personnel systems and the mechanisms for institutional improvement within the public sector. Over the course of the 10 days, they deepened their understanding not only of formal systems but also of the human resource development and organizational culture that underpin them.
We would like to express our sincere gratitude to all the delegates for their active participation and their passionate commitment to continuous improvement throughout the program.
