About TPS Seminar

About TPS(Toyota Production System)
TPS is an integrated production-technical system, developed by Toyota, that comprises its management philosophy and practices.
The system is a major precursor of the more generic “lean manufacturing”.
Taiichi Ohno and Eiji Toyoda, Japanese industrial engineers, developed the system between 1948 and 1975.
- Lean and TPS
The lean production method was born from TPS, so TPS and Lean are almost the same, but please understand the difference in historical background and consider the introduction method that suits your company.

TPS – Do you really understand what is waste? –
The basic philosophy of TPS(Toyota production system) is the reduce the manufacturing costs by removing complete all unnecessary (waste).
There are two basic ideas.
1) jidoka
“jidoka” is not just automation.
“jidoka” (which can be loosely translated as “automation with a human touch”), as when a problem occurs, the equipment stops immediately, preventing defective products from being produced.
Avoid making defective products, rather than finding defective products by inspection.
2) Just-in-Time
Making only “what is needed, when it is needed, and in the amount needed”
Just-in-Time is a production method that responds to diversifying consumer needs. Even in small-lot production of many kinds, work in process can be eliminated, and production can be performed with less cost and in shorter time.
Etymology of Just-in-time
A word from Toyota Motor’s founder Kiichiro Toyoda: “Car parts are best collected just in time.”

Beppu is one of the most famous Onsen towns in Japan. Beppu ranks first in gush volume in Japan and is in a high place in the world in the number of sources and the variety of chemical properties. ‘Jiguku Meguri (The Tour of Hell)’ is the highlight of sightseeing in Beppu Onsen.

Usuki in Oita Prefecture is a former castle town and Samurai district is located in the centre of city.
Usuki is famous for its Usuki Stone Buddha.
It said the Stone Buddha statues were carved out of cliff rocks around 12th century.Overnight: Fukuoka or Oita | Breakfast,lunch and Dinner

Fukuoka
Fukuoka City is a bustling center of politics, economy, culture and fashion in Kyushu. It takes 5 minutes by subway from Fukuoka Airport to Hakata Station.
In the 2015 edition of MONOCLE magazine, it has also won the second place in the “Living City Ranking” Asia. It takes place every July and has a tradition of more than 770 years. “Hakata Gion Yamakasa” and “Hakata Dontaku” in May, Fukuoka citizens like large festivals!

Plastic manufacturing
USA 15 peopleSecond visit to Japan. I was looking for a factory tour that I could not find in Nagoya. The seminar may be a little short in one day. The factory is a bit small, but it is a great example of improvement and it's great to share this experience with everyone. Fukuoka Prefecture is close to the airport and the city, and the hotel rooms are large. I think it is a good city that represents Japan. Also, sightseeing in Oita prefecture was better for me than Kyoto. That was way beyond my imagination.
